FAQ: YOUR DENTAL INSURANCE GUIDE

DO YOU ACCEPT MY DENTAL INSURANCE?

Yes, we accept all kinds of dental plans including private plans like Sunlife, Manulife, Great-West Life, Dejardins, and government dental plans including Healthy Smiles and ODSP.

DO YOU ACCEPT DIRECT BILLING IF I HAVE INSURANCE?

At Dentistry of Richmond, we directly bill your insurance company, which means that the dental office submits the primary and secondary insurance claims on behalf of the patients and requests their insurance company to pay the dental office directly.  The patient must cover any outstanding balance on the day of the treatment.

WHAT DOES CO-PAYMENT MEAN? AND DO I HAVE TO PAY DEDUCTIBLES AND CO-PAYMENTS?

It all depends on your plan. Some plans have 100% coverage and others have as low as 50%. The coverage and limitations are set by the contract between your employer (plan holder) and the insurance company. All dental offices in Ontario must collect the co-payments as long as they accept the insurance. Waiving a co-payment is insurance fraud and is against the law. We will be able to provide you with the breakdown of your insurance benefits and the limitations. You also will be informed about the estimated payment if any before the beginning of the procedure. For example, If your insurance covers 90% for X-rays. If the charge per X-ray is $28, then expect a charge of $2.8 if the x-ray is done.

DO YOU ACCEPT ELECTRONIC BILLING

We send claims electronically, which speeds up the claim submission and the communications between the office and insurance companies.

WHAT ARE MY DENTAL INSURANCE BENEFITS?

At your first appointment, we will contact your insurance provider on your behalf to inquire about information about your plan’s dental benefits.

DO YOU PROVIDE TREATMENT ESTIMATES?

We’ll send a treatment estimate to your insurance company for major dental work cases. All financial arrangements are fully clarified prior to your appointment, so there are never any hidden costs.
